Swing Trading Options

Options Entry Planning

Options entry planning means deciding before the trade the price level on the underlying where you will enter, which contract you will buy, and how much capital you will commit.

Elements of an entry plan

  • Underlying entry level(s)
  • Contract: strike and expiration
  • Planned quantity and capital
  • What would cancel the trade

Scaling in

Planning up to three entry levels lets you scale in rather than committing everything at once — and makes averaging down a decision, not a reaction.
